Sheinerra Gerongay tied for second with a 4-over 76 as the Pioneers finished runner-up to Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin in the Alton Marquette tournament at Lockhaven Country Club in Godfrey. Sarah Lyman tied for seventh with a 79 as the Pioneers posted a 330 total to finish eight strokes off the lead. Central Catholic (403) came in 10th in the 16-team event, led by Sarah Bell’s 84.

Junior City Results
U-High was well represented at the 2012 Bloomington/Normal Junior City Golf Tournament at Ironwood Golf Course on July 23-24.
Junior Erin Sondgeroth posted a 100-93 - 193 to earn a 17-stroke victory and claim her first ever tournament title.
On the boys' side, senior Adam Baracani finished 2nd in the boys 16-18 division with a 72-73 - 145. Senior Cole Sondgeroth carded 6 birdies on his Day 2 round to finish in 3rd with a 76-73 - 149. Juniors Nolan Harris (73-77 - 150) and Evan Sloneker (83-84 - 167) also participated, giving the U-High "team" a 2-day total of 304-307 - 611. Sophomore Mason Galvan carded a 89-85 - 174 while competing in the 13-15 division.

o Any female who is at least 14 years of age on or before July 28, 2012.
o Sanctioned handicaps are not required for gross score event, but needed for net score event.
Tournament Information:
o 36 Hole Stroke Play of 18 holes each day. Players will be flighted after first day of play.
o Two age divisions with Senior division beginning at age 50.
o Prizes for low gross scorers will be awarded across the field.
o Prizes for low net scorers having a CDGA or other sanctioned handicap will be awarded across the field.
o The champion will be the low gross winner across the field. Ties for overall Champion will be determined by sudden-death playoff. All other ties will be determined by scorecard playoff.
o Check-in begins 7:00 a.m. each day with continental breakfast.
o Choice of tee times begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. Tee times begin 8:00 a.m. on Sunday according to flights.
Entry Fee:
o $58 per player includes green fees and prizes.
o Traveling trophy will be awarded to Champion.
o Ironwood Gift Certificates to all other winners.
o Carts are available at $13 per player per day.

Hepler Chooses Mizzou to Continue Golf Career, Education
U-High Senior Katherine Hepler has signed a letter of intent to play DI golf at the Universtiy of Missouri beginning in the fall of 2012.

2012 Central Illinois Golf Junior Tour
The first stop on the Central Illinois Golf Junior Tour was contested under cold and windy conditions at ISU's Weibring Golf Club on Sunday, April 22. But the poor conditions didn't stop 2 U-High golfers from experiencing some early season success. Junior Sheinnera Gerongay won the girls 14-18 division, while junior Cole Sondgeroth finished in 3rd place in the boys 16-18 division.

Illinois Women's Golf Association Girls Junior Golf Tournament
The Illinois Women's Golf Association Girls Junior Golf Tournament will be held July 31 and August 1, 2012 at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy, Illinois. This is a very competitive tournament open to girls who reside in the state of Illinois. I have attached a poster and an entry form. I ask that you encourage the members of your girls golf team to consider participating in this premier event. For those highly competitive players, we also run a State Amateur tournament, this year being held June 12 - June 15, 2012 at Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood, Illinois.

44th Big I Junior Classic Golf Tournament
The local Big I Junior Classic Golf Tournament will be held at Kappa Golf Course, El Paso, IL on June 13, 2012. It is open to all golfers through age 18. Boys and girls participate in separate divisions and local qualifiers advance to the state tournament which will be held at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin, IL on July 11-12, 2012. This year the qualifiers from the State Tournament will play at University of Texas Golf Club, Austin, Texas.
